The S 160 "The Yank" or "Rattlesnake" were originally wartime locomotives of the United States Army Transportation Corps (USATC).

These locomotives had to be usable worldwide and therefore had a British loading gauge, which is one of the smallest for standard gauge railways. A total of 2,120 were built, making this class one of the most produced locomotives in the world. The name "Rattlesnake" comes from the characteristic rattling of the valve gear.
