Locomotive 01 150 was delivered in 1935 by the Henschel & Sohn locomotive works in Kassel, with factory number 22698. It initially earned its keep through demanding service on the low mountain range lines in Hesse and Thuringia – based in Bebra. For thirty years, it remained loyal to its Hessian homeland. Darmstadt, Hanau, Frankfurt am Main, Wiesbaden, and Giessen were its stations, and the main lines along the Rhine and Lahn rivers, across the Spessart hills, and through the Wetterau region were its territory. They were decommissioned in Hof in November 1973.
