INFORMATION ABOUT THE ROLE MODEL
In the 1970s, the GDR wagon manufacturing factories produced almost exclusively for export. The DR therefore had to look elsewhere to replace the aging fleet and to have more vehicles available for the increased transport tasks. In some cases, the solution was to produce new cars in-house, but this technology was not suitable for special cars. At the beginning of the 1970s, the GDR Foreign Trade Ministry managed to conclude extensive compensation deals with France, as a result of which the DR received around 20,000 new freight wagons of various types. From 1975 onwards, 1250 four-axle mineral oil tank wagons were delivered, which were classified under the documentation number 8105 and the type Uahs. Its number range began at 727 0000. The car had a welded underframe made of St 52-3 without a central long beam with type Y25Cs bogies and a split pulling mechanism. The five-tier container made of 7 mm sheet steel (9 mm in the base area) has a volume of 85,150 liters and thus allows full utilization of the maximum permissible axle load of 20 t at the time. The KE-GP compressed air brake with brake linkage adjuster and mechanical load braking was supplemented by a platform-operated handbrake and corresponded to the state of the art at the time. The wagons were primarily used in block trains and were particularly used to transport fuels such as gasoline and diesel. Since the GDR also exported these to generate foreign currency, the wagons with such transport also came to the “NSW – Non-Socialist Economic Area”.
