Already in epoch III, almost all major train stations in Austria saw motor trams or motor train carriages in different versions with different sidecars or flat service wagons - both on standard gauge and narrow gauge tracks.
The STB VT 95 (Steyr Valley Railway) was changed from the X 626.217 motor car to narrow gauge in 2015 and has been operating on the Steyr Valley Railway ever since. Its purple paint with silver trim is a tribute to the old DB rail buses.
