The EW IV type standard wagons were delivered to the SBB from 1981 and, with over 500 units, form one of the largest Swiss wagon fleets. The car body is made of welded lightweight steel. The cars are very popular with travelers because of the spacious interior with face-to-face seating and the smooth running behavior even at high speeds. With various modernizations, the EW-IV wagons are still in use practically all over Switzerland.
