This 70' heavyweight baggage car is green with white lettering and runs on 6-wheel passenger trucks. Built in 1927, as part of series 5570-5589, this all-steel mail baggage car had floor sockets for 54 mail storage stanchions and a baggage capacity of 60,000 pounds. The New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad operated throughout New England until 1968 when it was merged with the Penn Central System.
