The tender locomotives of the type T 9.3, which were used for both passenger and freight trains, managed to become one of the most produced locomotives in Germany with their top speed of 65 km/h. From 1901, the Prussian State Railway took more than 2,000 vehicles from the Königsberg Union Foundry and the German Reichsbahn in Alsace-Lorraine also ordered 132 examples. In 1925, the DR took over a large number of the locomotives and classified them as the 91 series, with some machines from Belgium also being included under this designation. During the Second World War, individual machines ended up in Poland and Austria, among other places. After 1945, the machines were gradually withdrawn from scheduled service in Germany and were thus no longer to be found on the DB in 1964 and on the DR in 1971.
