In 2010, the Mariazellerbahn was acquired from the ÖBB by the Lower Austrian Transport Organization (NÖVOG). Of the 15 electric locomotives of the 1099 series, only four machines remained in stock. In 2020, the E 10 (1099 010), which had previously been used as a spare parts donor, was brought back into working order. It also received a new appearance. In addition to the brown-gold painted locomotive body, the roof and the fan grilles shine silver. This means that the time-honored locomotive is once again available for use in nostalgic train services with the “Ötscherbär”.
